The Permanent Establishments and Expatriates Tax Office has completed a series of visits to two major taxpayers in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands and Batam in August 2025. These visits are part of the Directorate General of Taxes or DGT's intensive efforts to follow up on the request of Material Examination LO (SP2DK) to ensure compliance with tax reporting.
“The implementation of these visits affirms the DGT's role in data supervision and verification, ensuring that reported business activities are consistent with the actual conditions in the field,” explained Natalius, Head of The Permanent Establishments and Expatriates Tax Office, in his office on the 2nd floor of KPP Badora, Jalan Taman Pahlawan Nasional Kalibata, Pancoran, South Jakarta (Thursday, 11/12).
The Permanent Establishments and Expatriates Tax Office team, consisting of Account Representatives Supriyati, Vera Novalin, Arief Eko Hutomo, and Kusuma Indrajaya, visited taxpayer Agnes Chua Sey Ling, Director of PT Kee Tee Sinergi, a company engaged in swallow nest production and registered at the Tanjung Balai Karimun Tax Office. During the visit, Agnes Chua Sey Ling was unavailable as he was in Kuching, Malaysia, and was represented by by his tax consultant, Suharmen.
The address visited by The Permanent Establishments and Expatriates Tax Office was the taxpayer’s correspondence address as registered in the DGT system. At the location, the team found that the shophouse (ruko) listed as the correspondence address was being used only as a grocery store by the caretaker, not as the company’s operational office.
Verification was also carried out at two swallow nest business locations, namely Jalan H. Arab and Jalan Lubuk Semut, Karimun. The results of the visit showed that both locations had not been actively operating for several years.
“On behalf of taxpayer Agnes Chua Sey Ling, I am fully committed to fulfilling the tax obligations stated in the Material Examination LO by making payments and corrections to the Annual Tax Return,” said Suharmen.
The second visit was carried out in Batam to the taxpayer American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Indonesia, part of a global ship classification organization founded in 1862. The Permanent Establishments and Expatriates Tax Office team visited two locations, namely the branch office at Menara Aria, Harbour Bay Downtown, and the shipyard at PT Pax Ocean Batam, Tanjung Uncang, and met with company representatives Hendra Satwika and Aldino Syahrun Nurcahyono.
Based on the information obtained, ABS Indonesia's main activities focus on the maritime, offshore, and gas industries. In his statement, the ABS representative emphasized that the company’s primary mission is to promote the safety of life, property, and the environment through the development of technical standards, and clarified that the company does not operate its own shipyard. For tax compliance, ABS Indonesia uses the consulting services of PT Grant Thornton Strategic Consulting.
“It is hoped that these two visits will improve taxpayer compliance and secure state revenue from strategic sectors,” concluded Natalius.
